The image at left is a scanning electron microscope shot of a snow crystal at a very high magnification. Think architecture. Think Escher. Think aqueducts or cupholders intersecting, layer upon layer. Think complication and the depth of structure that underlies sensation. Think clay or styrofoam—maybe it is styrofoam, torn to tiny shreds and disposed of in the clouds above. Would there be any way for most of us to tell? You can almost touch it—well, you can touch it, but the resolution of touch is far lower than this image; there would be no way for the human hand to do much with something like this except to make it melt. Even thinking about it might make it melt. Any power directed towards it could make it disappear. Even awareness, or a lingering uncertainty about its structure. So,
forget.
